: A special committee constituted by the Mangalore Police Commissioner
Manish Kharbikar to enquire into the ASI Srikala harassment case, has
submitted its report to the Commissioner stating that the charges
against ACP Jagannath in the case could not be proved. As per the
report, there has been no sexual harassment.
The Committee report has come in as a big relief to ACP Jagannath who has been sent on leave following the incident.
It may be recalled here that Srikala, ASI of Pandeshwar police station, had in her complaint lodged on May 23 had alleged that ACP Jagannath had mentally and sexually harassed her.
The ASI had also alleged that the ACP had abused her and had also refused to grant leave to her.

The
probe committee was head by ACP Kavitha and comprised of Kalavathi,
inspector, Hilda Goveas, Assistant Administrative Officer at the
Commissioner’s office, Ramila Shekhar, Professor in School of Social
Work, Roshni Nilaya and Crime Branch Superintendent Pauline Mariyappa.
